Saturday 3rd August 2019, London, Ontario.
Today was a really good day.
120 km ride with the bike holding up.
On the route was “Uncle Tom’s cabin”, the home of Josiah Henson, on whom Harriet Beecher Stowe based her book that was so influential in galvanising the anti slavery movement in the US leading up to the Civil War.
And secondly the site of the Battle of the Thames in the War of 1812 between the US and the British. Indians, including Chief Tecumseh who had failed to unite disparate Indian tribes to stem the expansion of the settlers, were allied with the British. The US were victorious.
