Sunday 27th January, Lak Sao.
A terrific day’s cycling but the challenge exceeded my expectations of how tough it would be. Not only the climb, 1,352 metres, the fourth highest, but a lot of the road, a major trade route from Vietnam as evidenced by the number of lorries, was just gravel and then a dirt track. The sore throat and cold didn’t help but it was great.
The main mountains look down on you and then smaller rock formations just thrust vertically out of the ground.
98km but the longest daily ride so far at 7 hours 17 mins.
A tiring but great day.
See the hard climb replayed here.
