A Day at Large in Pondicherry

Wednesday 28th November, Pondicherry.

A quiet day in this former French colony. You can just imagine Albert Camus walking these streets and then sitting with a pastis and a Gauloises.
Part of Pondicherry was on lockdown today with police and military out in force. A suspected thief who was being held in prison died in hospital yesterday. Other prisoners claimed he had been beaten up. Demonstration outside the hospital.
