A Day in Madurai

Thursday 22nd November, Madurai.

Sightseeing and planning the next few weeks.
Visited the Meenakshi Amman temple considered to be to south India what the Taj Mahal is to the north. It is certainly impressive and hits you. Even more so when it was built in the 17th century and the colours would have been bright.
Of the major world religions Hinduism strikes me as having an almost elemental impact. Felt even more in places such as this.
Back cycling tomorrow in the direction where the cyclone had a big impact.
