Friday 20th July. Welcome back Robert! Today encapsulates the whole ride so far.
The longest daily ride yet at 118km. The morning was glorious. Then from noon the storms started, thunder and lightening, and continued all afternoon.
The route was a lovely one, cross country, through small Swiss villages and across fields and then alongside two lakes. Despite cycling along the lakes for much of the way the cumulative climb was surprisingly high.
The Swiss are certainly the best so far in terms of cycle lanes, cycle routes and cycle safety.
Am now in Biel-Bienne which has the reputation of being the most bilingual town in Switzerland. They are meant to switch from French to German mid sentence, although I’ve not heard this myself yet.
